Executive Director

The Milwaukee Community Service Corps is looking for an executive director to lead our organization into the future. 

Job Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for providing leadership to the staff and participants of the Milwaukee Community Service Corps.  The Executive Director will ensure that the Corps achieves its mission by providing skill training and education to corps members while engaging in projects that will improve the community that they serve.  The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the Corps and for developing an effective organization.  The Executive Director must have a high level of passion, energy and vision.

Reports to: Board of Directors

I.   Program Management and Administration
  • Establish Education and Training program goals and objectives;
  • Develop and implement procedures for measuring and providing feedback as to the Corps’ effectiveness in meeting its goals and objectives, including the progress of Corps members in developing employability skills and the production of work in the community;
  • Manage the development and implementation of the Corps’ work and community service projects;
  • Guarantee compliance with board of directors in project selection;
  • Provide coordination among the education and training components of the Corps;
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the Corps’ education and training programs, as well as post program placement options.
II. Staff Supervision, Human Resource Management
  • Develop an effective and comprehensive organization;
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the staff;
  • Recruit, interview and select program staff
III. Fundraising & Budgeting , Preparation of Reports, Agency Liaison
  • Identify and secure funding for the Corps from a wide range of public and private sources;
  • Oversee the development and monitoring of the agency’s budget;
  • Recruit corporate sponsors;
  • Prepare written progress reports for funding sources, the Board of Directors,  the press, community organizations and the general public;
  • Collaborate with other community partners, and groups within the Corps including ad hoc task force groups, the board of directors, funding sources, work project sponsors, education and youth agencies, and post-Corps placements sources.
IV. Long-Range Planning
  • Develop and implement the long range planning for the Corps based on the strategic plan and keeping the overall mission in mind.
  • Identify opportunities for the Corps to grow in relevance within the community and the direction of new projects going forward
Minimum Qualifications
  • Leadership experience within a non-profit
  • Direct management of staff
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Project Management
  • Fundraising experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within a workforce development organization
  • Master’s Degree
  • Financial Oversight
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external key stakeholders
