The Milwaukee Community Service Corps is pleased to invite you

to the 75th Anniversary celebration of the Civilian Conservation Corps

The Milwaukee Community Service Corps (MCSC) prides itself as the grandchild of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in Wisconsin, tracing its roots as a service and conservation corps back to the formation of the CCC in the 1930s. Like the CCC of yesteryear, young adults ages 18 to 23 are still hard at work laboring to transform the future of our community.

On November 20, 1933, the Civilian Works Administration was passed into law by local government officials in southeastern Wisconsin, representing the beginning of a legacy of CCC involvement that would shape the people and places of greater Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin. Exactly seventy-five (75) years later, we gather to honor and recognize those who served and to whom so much is owed.

The event is free and open to everyone.

DATE: November 20,
TIME: 10:00-Noon. Ceremonial events begin at 10 a.m.
LOCATION: Boerner Botanical Gardens in Whitnall Park—9400 Boerner Drive, Hales Corners, Wisconsin

Whitnall Park remains a tribute as the site of a CCC encampment that included artisans and craftsmen of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The hand-carved figures in the building interiors and the hand-split fieldstone on the exteriors are visible reminders of the legacy of the CCC and WPA in greater Milwaukee.
